Readers Journal:
"Sully" was important to me because it has to do with flying and becoming a pilot is what I want to do some day. Flight has been a part of me for my entire life. Reading about the detials of what happened on the fateful day that became "the miracle on the Hudson" changed how I view what it takes to be a successful pilot. I always knew that being a pilot could be dangerous, but to see how Sully handled that emergency gave me a new respect for pilots. It showed me how all the training can be a part of you and how you make decisions in a dangerous event. There is a huge difference between plane types, but even in small planes emergencies happen at any time. I know that Sully's decision to land in the river was the right thing to do and that it was the safe thing to do for the crew and the passengers. When they lost their engines they had literally seconds to decide to make it back or not to make it back to the runway. This book has taught me that it only takes seconds for someting to happen, geese flying into the engines, and it could change your life for ever. It taught me a lot about how log it takes to become a pilot, the training, the dedication, and how hard you have to work to get there. "Sully" is a great book because it explains the life of a pilot and what you would have to go through if something like that happens. I would say this book is good for anyone who likes flight or wants to fly a plane. I think there are many things for a reader to take from this book. The most important would be to go with your gut and your training as a pilot in an emergency situation. Also, you have to love what you do and care about your passengers--they are more than just people. You also have to trust your crew.
